This page brings together the main content focus of the entire site. This is mainly the so-called "Species Cards", which contain comprehensive information about each species occurring in the Czech Republic. You can find them under the menu "Alphabetical list of Items", where they are alphabetically arranged with the possibility of searching by name. The species tabs are internally divided into sections by means of tabs, which increase clarity and allow faster searching for the required information. Basic information about each species, including a photograph, can be found on the introductory "Basic Information" tab. The "Alternative names" tab contains Latin synonyms and species names in selected foreign languages, with a preference for Central European languages and English. The "Detailed information" tab contains data on bionomics, seasonal activity, altitudinal zonation and range maps within the Czech Republic and, tentatively, Europe. The "Determination" tab brings together the data needed to identify the species. It contains, in particular, images of the main identifying characters, possible confusion with other similar species, sexual differences, dichroisms or known DNA sequences. The "Photo Gallery" tab then provides a number of images of developmental stages, determination details and typical habitats. The last tab "References" gathers information on the sources that were used to produce the species card. Together with the species cards, cards of higher taxonomic units are also presented under this heading. These are primarily order card and individual family cards, but you can also find other taxonomic groups (subfamily, tribe, genus) if they are exceptional in some way.
The "Checklist" menu contains pages with catalogues of families occurring in Central Europe. The region has been selected in this way with regard to possible migrations of the species from neighbouring countries. The main page of the catalogue is supplemented in the right-hand column by a "Checklist" block, which is used for quick navigation through the catalogue. Catalogues of individual families contain taxonomically sorted lists of species occurring in the territory of individual countries. The summaries are always supplemented at the end of the catalogue with the total number of species in each country and in Central Europe as a whole and a list of the literature used to compile the catalogue. In the right-hand column, each catalogue is supplemented by a 'Checklist Legend' block with a more detailed description of the catalogue.
The menu "Atlas (by taxonomy)" contains pictorial atlases of the individual families, sorted by taxonomy. The main page of the atlas contains, for each family, pictures of typical representatives of the family. This main page of the atlas is also supplemented with an "Atlas (by taxonomy)" block in the right column for quick navigation through the atlas. The family atlases then link to additional information for each representative, such as a species map, map of current range, elevational zonation, seasonal activity, dichroism, dimorphism, or image source. A brief description of the family is given at the beginning of each atlas, with a link to the family card, which contains more detailed information about the family.
The "Atlas (alphabetical)" menu contains a page of alphabetically sorted families with links to atlases of each family. The content leads to the same pages as the links on the "Atlas (by taxonomy)" page.
The "List of Pest" menu contains information that further specifies the concept of a pest, as well as links to pages with individual lists of pests, sorted by the area of the pest. The individual pest lists then lead to cards for the described species, if such cards have already been created.
The menu "Invasive Species" contains information on known invasive species occurring in the Czech Republic. This is a simple list that can lead up to the described species cards if such cards have already been created.
The "Species Search" menu contains a comprehensive search form that can be used to search species cards according to a range of criteria.
